Wasn’t there supposed to be a decision about Obama’s Birth Certificate today?

Published by Sarah at 9:51 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

As I remember hearing, Justice Thomas was supposed make a decision today as to whether or not the Supreme Court would hear the case regarding Obama’s birth certificate and citizenship.

While I honestly believe this is nothing more than a neo-con ploy, the fact that there is even potential for the Supreme Court to considering hearing this does concern me a bit.  Wasn’t everything about Obama vetted prior to him running for President?  In fact, didn’t he have to be vetted in order to become a Senator?  If I recall correctly, you have to be an American citizen to be a Senator also.

Also, didn’t both the Republican Govenor and the Director of the Department of Health in Hawaii say they have seen his birth certificate and said it is valid?  I really don’t get this whole thing with those neo-cons.  Is this supposed to be paybacks or something for the 2000 election and Bush?

There are a lot more pressing issues going on in this country and the world right now that need our attention instead of this whole thing with Obama’s birth certificate.  I’ve seen some of those right-wing bloggers saying this is a constitutional issue.  Okay, I get that - but - like I said previously - wasn’t he already vetted by the FBI when he ran for the Senate?

I’ll be glad when they settle this whole thing so we can get it behind us and move forward.  You know, Obama could settle this whole thing by just providing the Supreme Court with his actual birth certificate.  While I really admire the guy, I don’t understand why he just doesn’t put this thing to rest. This doesn’t mean I’m questioning his motives - this just means exactly that - just put it to rest already and shut those neo-cons up once and for all.

The only reason it went before the SC is because the moron bringing the suit was turned down by every other court.

That there has been no announcement made is generally a good sign for normalcy, and I suspect there will be a page 9 article about the dismissal of the case in the paper tomorrow.

While it’s easy to say that only a complete, blithering idiot would be able to miss that because his mother is American he’s a legal citizen, or refuse to mention that John McCain was born in the non-US soil area of the Panama Canal Zone just proves how out of touch and desperate the fringe element of the right has become.

    Cheers

Hi threedegrees - nice to see ya again! :) From what I understand, if he was not born in America, his mother did not have status per the constitution as an American citizen - and that is part of the issue. She was I believe either 18 or 19 when she had him. Under the constitution she could not pass on her status as an American. I’ll have to read that part again - but - I think that was the crux of the issue in this case. Or..was that the other case that got thrown out? Oh well - it doesn’t really matter.

Hi skwguitar - thanks for coming by and commenting. Actually, its not hogwash. Justice Thomas actually is looking at it for consideration.

so what would the consequence be if that all fell through? Biden would be president?

Hi skwguitar - that is a very interesting question. I don’t have an answer. I’ll look in to it, but, I don’t think it automatically goes to Biden. I think the electoral college would choose somehow. I’ll see what I can find out - or - hopefully, someone who is much smarter than me will come by and answer that for us.
