What’s the big deal anyway?
One week to go before President-Elect Obama officially becomes the 44th President of these great United States. But, with the run-up to his inauguration there appears to be some huge hoopla about Rick Warren giving the inauguration invocation and an even bigger hoopla about Barack Obama saying “..and so help me God” while taking the oath.
Seriously, people! Mr. Obama is a Christian. Are you saying that once someone becomes the President they are supposed to give up their religious beliefs? It’s not like he’s going to be making policy based on consultation from God. He is taking his oath and affirming to we the people and his God that he will protect us all to the best of his ability.
For we Christians there is no higher power than God. For President-Elect Obama to take his oath and swear to God that means he sincerely believes he will do whatever he can in his power to protect us all. More than 85% of this country have indicated they are Christians. So, the only one’s out there really making a huge deal out of this are the 15% in the minority. Since when did the minority get to make the rules?
Regarding Mr. Warren - again - so what? This guy has his own convictions - but - is that any reason to chastise him simply for giving the inaugural invocation? You guys are nuts. Compared to what Mr. Obama has ahead of him - this has got to be the most assinine thing to worry about and complain about.
Get over it!
Thanks,
Sarah

I’m so glad they have that gay bishop giving the prayer, Vicki Gene Robinson.
he said “Bishop Robinson said he might address the prayer to “the God of our many understandings,” language that he said he learned from the 12-step program he attended for his alcohol addiction.”I’m so relieved a gay bishop is going to give the prayer and is not going to offend anyone by using Jesus name.
loud sustained applause. We need to fix this country. Concern over the choice of a speaker - which should be seen as bipartisan in many ways - is not at the top of the agenda right now.
Thanks for stopping in Vrajavala - personally - I don’t really care who is giving the speeches, prayers, or performing. I didn’t vote for Obama to see who he picks for his inauguration day. I chose him because of what he has promised to do to help this country. Given today’s economic mess - this is the least of my worries.
Skwguitar - thank you very much!
God os one and we are all part of the cooked ‘SOUP’. When peopele start judging and pointing the finger then things get messy. It’s time for people to Unite behind the Love of God and to help Obama fix the mess. Great post Brovs!
